Whether it is a press release or a detailed guide, some things can’t be contained to the formatting of a single Slack message. What many people do not realize is Slack has its own built in word processor for creating long form posts and embedding them into messages.
The easy paragraph formatting menu and ability to add titles and make continual edits, make this a very valuable feature. If you want to give it a try, here is what you need to do:
1. Click the plus sign next to the message composition window
2. Select “Create a Post” from the menu
3. Write your post and add a title
4. Click “Share” in the top right corner
5. Select your sharing options
- Which channel you want to share the post in
- Whether or not other team members can edit the post
- Add a comment to the post for additional context
6. Click “Share” in the bottom right corner
