After the Google Drive team mentioned this really helpful tip on Google Plus, I just wanted to follow-up with our own tutorial to give you guys a little more information.
With Google Docs, Presentations and Drawings you may have noticed some of your text gets auto-corrected into symbols or just a different format. This is especially useful with fractions when they’re auto-corrected into a better presentation.
You actually have the ability to manage these auto-corrections, customize them and even create your own! I’ve found this can be especially useful for those who use Google Docs for note-taking (I’m looking at you, students!). If you use your own shorthand for note-taking, this auto-correction tool can make it really easy to transfer notes you use frequently into the full word.
To access this feature:
- Click on Tools inside of your file.
- Then click on Preferences.
- You can delete all of the preset auto-corrections, customize them or create your own.
