There are quite a few reasons you would want a backup of all of your emails.

You may be moving away from Gmail and want to import the data into your new account, or you may want a local backup for legal or security reasons. The important thing is that you know how to do this the proper and efficient way.

I have shown you in the past how to download individual emails as PDFs, but if you were to try and do this for each and every one of your emails it would not only be extremely time consuming, it would also leave you with a disorganized mess of unnamed pdf files. Although it is hard to find, Google actually does provide a way to easily export a .zip archive of all your emails that you can store locally or on your Drive.
