Last year saw the significant shift in our workforce that had been promised for years, with many organizations going from an “office first” to a “remote first” approach. Predictably the spend on, and adoption of, cloud technologies grew rapidly, speeding up what was already a fast moving trend toward adopting a best-in-breed SaaS strategy for organizations.

Proficiency in SaaSOps and BetterCloud is no longer a “nice to have” but required for many SaaS-powered companies. As proof, SaaSOps positions are on the rise, and experience with BetterCloud is now becoming a qualification in many job postings. For example, this IT Technician role at Oscar lists BetterCloud as a qualification, as does this Corporate Engineer role at Foursquare.

So how can BetterCloud Administrators show their proficiency in the product within their organization or when moving to a new organization?

There’s a certification for that.

In November of 2020, we launched our first BetterCloud Administrator Certification so our platform’s admins can show that they are experts in our product. In the less than three months it’s been live, 170 people have become Certified BetterCloud Administrators, passing our exam and proving their skills.

Here are some common questions and their answers!

Why should I get certified?

A BetterCloud Certification enables you to gain a competitive edge within the IT industry by establishing yourself as someone knowledgeable and experienced in using the BetterCloud SaaS management platform. As SaaS adoption continues to accelerate, more companies are seeking IT professionals with hands-on experience and proficiency managing SaaS apps. Expertise with BetterCloud can help advance your career and boost key SaaSOps skills you’ll be using now and in the future.

Here’s a look at what one of our recently certified customers shared on LinkedIn:

Who can get certified?

Current and former BetterCloud users are welcome to sign up.

What is the format of the exam?

The exam is 50 questions, and usually takes 60 minutes from start to finish. Questions are primarily discrete option multiple choice, with a mix of matching, order of operations, true/false, and traditional multiple choice mixed in. If you’re new to discrete option multiple choice, you may want to check out our practice exam (passcode is BetterCloud). Fortunately, you can take the practice exam as many times as you’d like!

What do I need to do to prepare for the exam?

We have prep materials ready to go for you! By visiting our certification page, you can download a study guide, take our practice exam, and sign up for a 45-minute Exam Readiness session, which breaks down everything you need to know about the exam. You’ll even get to practice on a few questions that are part of the exam itself!

Before the exam, you may want to download Zoom and/or GoToMeeting (proctors use both services), ensure you have your picture ID ready to go, and have a clear workspace. The exam is not an open book test, as it tests you on the basics of BetterCloud’s platform, so everything you need to know should be common knowledge for BetterCloud Administrators.

How much does the exam cost?

$159, but if you attend an Exam Readiness session, you’ll receive a one-time use voucher to take the exam for free.

What is the proctor experience like?

We are using a service called Examity, which allows you to schedule your exam 24/7 no matter where you are in the world. On your scheduled date and time, you’ll sign into prod.examity.com/bettercloud and connect to your proctor. This could take between 5-10 minutes, so if you don’t connect right away, it’s okay!

Once connected, you’ll display your ID, workspace, and surrounding area, then agree to the terms of the exam. We ask that you not have external monitors or headphones hooked up, and that all electronics/notes are cleared from your desk because they cannot be monitored. However, if you’re unable to be in the room by yourself or need to read questions out loud, that’s perfectly fine.

What happens when I pass?

Once you pass the exam, you will be issued a certification that can be displayed on LinkedIn, good for two years.

What happens if I don’t pass?

You can reschedule your exam after 7 days for $59.

If all of this sounds good and you’d like to try your hand at the BetterCloud Administrator Exam and be certified in the leading SaaSOps technology used by thousands of organizations, check out bettercloud.com/certification for more information. We hope to see your name on the roster of test takers!
