Toby: A Better Way to Manage & Organize Your Chrome Tabs

If you constantly have dozens of tabs open in Chrome and can’t keep “tabs” on them (sorry, we couldn’t resist), here’s a solution for you.
Try Toby, a Chrome extension that lets you drag and drop your tabs and organize them into neat visual lists. Toby’s interface is remarkably clean, simple, and easy to use. Here are four great features, plus an exciting new feature being released today.
Getting started
- Head to http://www.gettoby.com/ and click the “Add Toby to Chrome” button. Click “Add extension” to confirm the installation.
- As the demo shows, any open tabs in your Chrome browser will be listed along the right-hand side. All you have to do is drag a tab into the appropriate list and it will be added to the Toby interface, which you’ll see every time you open up a new tab in Chrome.
Create custom lists
You can create custom lists for the the topics that you’re most commonly searching for on the Internet. Click on the pink “+” icon to add a new list, give it a name, and then start dragging tabs into your list, so they can be easily accessible in the future.
Save a complete session
This will create a new list based on the date and time and save all of your currently open tabs. Just click on the “Save Session” button and you’ll see the new list created.
Search all of your tabs instantly
This might be the biggest time-saver of all in the extension. You can search for the information you’re looking for, and Toby will highlight the links that match your query.
Sync to Google Drive
When you log into other devices, you can easily pull your Toby data over, allowing you to pick up browsing right where you left off. All your frequently used tabs will be sorted into your preferred lists.
To do this, click the pink T icon in the upper left-hand corner > “Sync to Drive” option. You’ll have to give Toby permission to access your Drive account at that point, but once you do, you can access Toby from any device.
Rename your tabs (new!)
Today, Toby is releasing another great feature: the ability to rename your tabs, which makes organizing your tabs even easier!
