YouTube videos can vary in length and sometimes you just want to fast forward to the good part. Did you know that you’re able to share a YouTube link at a specific time? Linking to a specific time in a YouTube video can save your recipient time and save you the trouble of typing out what you’re referencing. Watch the video to see these three different methods in action and read the steps below to follow along.

1. The Right-Click Menu in YouTube is Your Friend

  • Pause the video where you want the viewer to begin watching the video.
  • Right click within the YouTube video frame.
  • From the right-click menu, select “get video URL at current time.”
  • Now, paste the URL to wherever you are sharing the link. When this URL is clicked, it will forward to the time you specified.

2. Share It Where It’s At

  • Click Share below the YouTube video.
  • Click the box to enable the “Start at” function. When you click the box, you’ll notice that some text is added onto the link.
  • By default, the box will fill in at the time you have the video currently paused. You can easily edit this by typing in the time.
  • Note: if it’s a specified time below one minute, you need to use 0 as a place-holder in the first digit.
  • Copy the link and paste where you want to share it.

3. Share a YouTube Video at A Specific Time and With A Specific Person

  • In the Comments section below the video, type +(insert person’s name) and the time you want the video to begin.
  • When you submit the comment, the name will link to the person’s Google+ profile and the time will link to the specific time in the video.
  • Note: if it’s a specified time below one minute, you need to use 0 as a place-holder in the first digit.
