Take Polls in Your PowerPoint Presentation in Real Time

2 minute read

PowerPoint Blue1

Here’s a very handy add-in for Powerpoint that allows your audience to interact with you and your presentation in real time. It only requires that your audience have access to their own mobile devices in order to provide feedback or responses to questions during your presentation.

There are actually multiple options for this kind of technology, but the one we’re going to look at today is called Poll Everywhere. We picked this version because as we install it, you should notice that it has a free version, which is a great way to evaluate how well it will work for your presentations.

  • In PowerPoint, go to the Insert tab and click on Store in the Add-ins group. Search for Poll Everywhere. Add the add-in, and then you should be taken to the Insert Poll slide. Choose multiple choice for now, but you’ll see that you have a lot of other ways to solicit information from your audience that you can explore later.

  • If you haven’t created an account previously with Poll Everywhere, you will need to create an account now.
  • Next, you’ll need to set up the options that you want to offer in your poll.

  • When you run your presentation, you’ll see that instructions for participating in the poll are automatically displayed.

  • If you’re particular about how everything appears in your presentations, you can access the settings of the poll by clicking on the Settings icon in the upper right-hand corner of the poll. Here, you can tweak some display settings to make the poll fit as closely as possible within the existing theme of your presentation.
