If you’ve been following the recent controversy with the NSA, you know Google has come under fire for allegedly not doing enough to protect their users search terms.

Well a few weeks ago, Google actually introduced one of, if not the biggest, update to Google search security.

First of all, back in 2011 Google brought SSL protection to search for all users who were logged in to a Google account. SSL, or secure sockets layer, prevents users search queries from being tied to their identities, so any searches performed with the secure encryption are protected from any 3rd parties.

Earlier this year Google brought SSL encryption to the omni-box in Google Chrome, and a few weeks ago Google announced that secure search would now be served to people who weren’t even signed into a google account.
