Sauce Labs is the company enterprises trust to deliver a 360-degree view of a customer’s application experience, helping businesses improve the quality of their user experience and ensuring that web and mobile applications, look, function, and perform exactly as they should.

As Sauce Labs is constantly innovating and testing, its internal IT team is also always looking for ways to further optimize IT operations.

The Director of IT at Sauce Labs manages the IT team for the global company. Her team supports all IT operations, including employee lifecycle management, procurement, audits and employee support requests.

As the Director of IT wants to continuously improve IT processes, she wanted to build workflows to automate tasks for employee onboarding and offboarding.

Additionally, Sauce Labs wanted to optimize and enhance employee lifecycle management in order to remain compliant with various audits like SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001.

Solution:

The Director of IT and her team were initially interested in BetterCloud for its large number of integrations, workflow automation, and simple ease of use.

In using BetterCloud, the Sauce Labs IT team automated their offboarding workflow and were able to further optimize their user lifecycle management process.

Additionally, “BetterCloud has helped us in terms of making sure our audits are going well and being performed on a periodic basis,” the Director of IT at Sauce Labs says. The audits have helped Sauce Labs maintain SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 compliance. Through the periodic audits, she has also been able to maintain a cleaner environment and remove unused files and groups, so employees can easily access and search for what they need.

BetterCloud has proved especially helpful over the course of the past year. “We drastically expanded BetterCloud as fast as we could during the pandemic. BetterCloud helped with our shift to remote work by easily adding integrations the team needed,” the Director of IT at Sauce Labs says. “Just knowing that I can run the BetterCloud workflow and it’s done—it’s a lifesaver.”

As a next step, the Director of IT at Sauce Labs looks to expand BetterCloud to support departments outside of IT. In close collaboration with HR and managers, the Director of IT and her team are working on onboarding per department, per geography, and per team, which will help add employees to the right distribution list and correct access to applications.

Additionally, the Director of IT plans to move additional business applications to BetterCloud in order to centralize and build automated workflows to streamline processes across finance and HR.
