Open Outlook Email Replies in a New Window

If you’re used to older versions of Outlook, you might be surprised when your email replies don’t “pop out” in Office 365.

When you’re using Outlook 2013/2016 or the Outlook Web App, email replies stay nestled in the same window as the original email, rather than popping out as a separate, new window:

But not everyone likes this behavior. There are advantages to having your email reply as a separate window; I know I like my window separate so I can toggle back and forth between my reply and other emails I might want to look at.

In both Outlook 2013/2016 and the Outlook Web App, there’s just one button you need to click to pop your email replies out. The video above will walk you through both applications, so you can make your email act just how you want.
