If you write a lot of research reports in Google Docs and need to cite online sources often, you’ll love this new feature that Google just rolled out for Docs. Now you can insert citations as footnotes with the click of a button.

  • In Google Docs, open up your document and click on the Explore button (Explore) button in the bottom right corner.
  • Search for a topic in the search bar above. To add an online citation, hover over the search result and click “Cite as footnote.”

  • You can even switch between the MLA, APA, and Chicago citation styles just by clicking on the three dots.
