How to Set up Google Apps for your iPhone
2 minute read

This guide will show you how to set up your Google Apps account on your iPhone. Before we get started, we recommend backing up your iPhone with your computer. This is something you should do periodically to make sure all your valuable data is stored.
Also, to use Google Sync for your iPhone (iOS 3.0 and up), your Google Apps Administrator must enable Google Sync for your domain. With all that out of the way, let’s get started!
1.) Open up the Settings app on your iPhone and select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
2.) Next, select Add Account…
3.) This is somewhat counterintuitive, but next you will select Microsoft Exchange rather than Gmail. This allows you to sync your Contacts, as well as your emails and Calendar events.
4.) Enter in your Google Apps email address and password. You can also add in a description, like your Google Apps domain name. Then click Next.
5.) In the Email field, enter your Google Apps email address again.
6.) In the server field enter in m.google.com. Leave the Domain field blank.
7.) Enter your email address again in the Username field and your password in the Password field.
8.) Click next.
9.) Enable Mail, Contacts, and Calendars to sync all of them with your iPhone.
10.) Click Save.
*If you want to keep the contacts already on your device, select the Keep on my iPhone option when it’s presented. This allows you to keep syncing with your computer through iTunes.
*If you have all of your contacts within Google Apps, and you want to sync them to your device and don’t want to keep the contacts on your iPhone, select Delete Existing Contacts. If you have no contacts on your phone, your All Contacts group will be synced.
You’re done syncing your Google Apps account with your iPhone! It should take a moment or two before your data is transferred, so be patient.
