If a picture is worth a thousand words, then how much does information can be conveyed with a gif?

Gifs have become a staple of online communication and are often used to express emotions or feelings in ways a textual message can not. Giphy is the largest house of gifs on the internet and their Slack integration makes sending the perfect gif easier than ever.

All you have to do is type “/giphy (how you are feeling)” and the giphy integration will find the perfect gif and insert it into your Slack message. Be careful, you can not see the gif that is selected until you have already sent the message. Be sure to steer clear of word that may produce inappropriate results. Here is how you set up this fun and handy integration in Slack:

1. Click the down arrow next to your Slack team name
2. Select Apps & Custom Integrations from the dropdown menu
3. Search “Giphy” in the search bar and click on the Giphy Integration (should be the top result)
4. Click install next to your team name
5. Click “add Giphy Integration”
6. Select the appropriateness level of the gifs then click “Save Integration”
5. Test it out by sending a message in the “/giphy (how you are feeling)” format
