How to Co-Author Office Online Documents Stored in Egnyte

If you’re an Office 365 user whose organization leverages Egnyte for secure file storage, you’re in luck. Office documents can now be co-authored right inside Egnyte; no more switching between platforms.

To edit Office Online files in Egnyte, first ensure that the Office integration is enabled. This has to be done by an administrator.

  1. Go to Settings, then select Configuration and Applications.
  2. Scroll to Web Apps. In the drop-down menu next to Egnyte for Microsoft Office Online, select Allow users to add (makes it available for users to add on their own) or Add for all users (instantly available for all users, most appropriate if all users have an O365 subscription).

Once the integration is enabled, to open a file in Office Online, right click on the file and choose the option such as Edit in Word Online.
