It just got even easier to enjoy online video and anything from the web on your TV. Chromecast now has even more functionality for your iPhone and iPads with the release of the new Chromecast app, which is available for free in the iTunes store.

Chromecast for iOS devices scans for your existing Chromecasts, along with easy set up to your Wi-Fi network for any new devices. It also lists compatible apps (for now only YouTube and NetFlix).

Google Chromecast for iOS

Google caught a little heat yesterday after a developer claimed the latest update to the Chromecast intentionally broke his application that allowed users to stream any content from their Android device directly to the Chromecast. It turns out this was not the case as Google released this statement, and ensured the Cast SDK will allow for plenty of customization and development:

We’re excited to bring more content to Chromecast and would like to support all types of apps, including those for local content. It’s still early days for the Google Cast SDK, which we just released in developer preview for early development and testing only. We expect that the SDK will continue to change before we launch out of developer preview, and want to provide a great experience for users and developers before making the SDK and additional apps more broadly available.
