Last week, Microsoft released a pretty big overhaul to the Office experience on iPad. Plus, Google Google announced enhanced support for Google Workspace. Oh yeah, you can finally set your status as “away” in Google Chat. Read more about these updates and everything else that happened last week in the links.

Set Your Status As Away in Google Chat in Gmail
Google Workspace Updates | You can now set yourself as “away” in Chat in Gmail. When you set your status to away, you will show as offline to others, even when you’re active, helping you to focus solely on your work uninterrupted.

New Office Updates Make Working on iPad Even Easier
Microsoft | The Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps are now receiving updates to take full advantage of trackpad support in iPadOS to give iPad users using a mouse or Apple’s new Magic Keyboard easy cursor control, fluid navigation, and precise adjustments. When moving a finger across the built-in trackpad of Magic Keyboard, the cursor transforms into the tool you need depending on the content you’re pointing to.

Office Editing Mode Is Now the Default Editing Mode for Office Files in Drive on the Web
Google Workspace Updates | Previously, double clicking would open a preview of the document, from which users could choose whether to open in Office editing mode or download the file. You can still use the preview mode by right clicking the file and clicking “Preview,” or by pressing ‘P’ on the keyboard while double clicking the file.

Enhanced Support for Google Workspace Now Available
Google Workspace Updates | Designed for customers who need fast, advanced, and complete support, it offers accelerated response times, advanced product knowledge and Third-Party Technology Support. Enhanced Support is included with Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus editions.
