When Google Classroom launched in August of 2014, teachers everywhere rejoiced. Finally, they had an easy way for their students to submit work created in Google Apps.

Classroom also turned out to be a great way for students to collaborate with one another. However, educators quickly realized that there was a limitation. All students and teachers had to be on the same Google Apps domain.

Then, in June of 2015, Google announced that Google Apps Administrators could now add other organizations’ domains to a whitelist to allow for cross-domain collaboration inside of Google Classroom. Once the whitelist has been created, students and teachers can join, or be invited to join, Google Classroom classes located anywhere in the world.
