It is important to know who owns Google Drive files on your domain. Using BetterCloud’s Drive Audit feature, you can view file ownership of all of the Google Drive files on your domain and search for files by their owners.

  • In the Drive Audit section, click “+Filter”
  • Select “Owned by User”
  • Enter an email address
  • Click “Filter” to see only Drive files that are owned by that email address

Use Cases

If you want to ensure all reporting documents for each team are owned by that team’s manager, you may want to search your domain’s Google Drive by owner to see if any files are not owned by that team's manager so you can take necessary actions.

How to Transfer Ownership of Google Drive Files

There was a spreadsheet we found through BetterCloud’s Drive Audit that contained the SSN and employee ID of everyone in the company. It made me wonder what else we could be missing.
